Want to get to know Elaine (Laney) Heard Cuthbertson, the founding member of Heard Law? Check out our interview below to learn more about Laney, her love of animals, and her passion for art history!

Tell us about yourself!

I'm originally from Tampa, Florida, but I went to undergrad at Vanderbilt University and law school at the University of Miami. I took the Florida bar in 2008, and then the Tennessee bar in 2009, and I decided to move back to Tennessee and open up my own firm. I've been here for close to ten years!
What are some of your biggest interests outside of law?
I minored in art history during undergrad, with a concentration on Italian art during the Baroque period, and it turned out to be one of the loves of my life. I actually speak French, and I lived in London for a little while to pursue my art history studies there. I've also always loved animals. I originally considered becoming a vet before I made the decision to go to law school. During law school, I worked at a zoo in Miami and helped raise baby orangutans! Ultimately, I became a pet mom as well as a lawyer.
Tell us about your pets!
I have a black lab named Quigley, and four cats: Roxie, Yoda, Coco, and Monroe. They like to come hang out and chill at the office sometimes; they're very friendly!
What do you love about the Nashville area?
I love that it's a big city that still feels like a small town. It has plenty to offer, and the people are very warm and welcoming.

Dear Laney,

How long has it been since Red passed? I miss his good advise.

I read your doing law with an animal care interest. I have been a property manager for two Veterinary hospitals for about as long as you have been in Nashville.

I originated and own an issued VAu (C) architectural design for new design for Veterinary offices or human medical offices.

It's main new feature is that it replaces the unhealthy and unpopular waiting room with private staging rooms next private exam rooms. The overall design is intended to reduce in house infection rates.

Your in Nashville and you may know some investors or HCA people that would be interested. You can have the legal business and a percentage.

I also read your firm is into child care legal issues. I have a new USPTO model for more affordable for child or adult daycare being reviewed in HI, OK and Fl. You may want to place it in Nashville with your contacts.

Please reply with your comments.

Thank You.
Best Regards
